The Rapid Support Forces’ (RSF) artillery is reportedly striking General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s forces and “mercenaries” in Al-Obeid, a source familiar with the matter has said.
Al-Obeid is the capital of North Kordofan and a vital crossroads linking Darfur, South Kordofan and Khartoum.
Its control is key for securing supply lines, troop movements and regional influence.
Dominance here can significantly disrupt rival’s logistics and communications.
The report further stated that the forces of the Kordofan Rapid Support Forces recently succeeded in “liberating” the Jebel Hishaba area.
Jebel Hishaba is a mountainous area offering high ground and natural defences.
Controlling it provides a tactical edge for surveillance, artillery positioning, and resistance against ground assaults.
