A wave of devastating and indiscriminate airstrikes rocked Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, as Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) war planes unleashed a brutal assault on residential areas, Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF)said on Friday.
RSF says the strikes targeted the civilian neighborhoods of Riyadh, Khartoum Belil, Domaiya Market and claimed the lives of at least 118 civilians, among them women and children.
The Rapid Support Forces blames the SAF and its allied extremist militias, operating under the guidance of corrupt leadership for the latest atrocities.
“It is clear that these criminal acts are selectively executed to intimidate and forcibly displace the residents of Nyala. These innocent civilians have enjoyed security and stability since the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) liberated the city from the extremist former regime,” RSF said.
Calling for solidarity on local, regional, and international fronts, RSF urged swift condemnation for the attacks.
The Sudanese group announced that it was committed to ending such atrocities and emphasized the importance of eliminating the remnants of the former regime responsible for inciting conflict, wreaking havoc, and displacing Sudanese citizens.
“We reiterate once more the importance of maintaining solidarity among all Sudanese, as we work together, hand-in-hand, to build a new state founded on the principles of peace, justice, inclusivity, and the elimination of all forms of injustice and marginalization,” the group said.
