A “suicide drone” strike by General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) on Al-Fula, West Kordofan, earlier this week disrupted the delivery of humanitarian supplies to famine-hit Lagawa, an East Darfur relief official told media.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said two trucks in a larger convoy were targeted by SAF drones inside Al-Fula on Monday, when a blast hit the city’s fuel market, causing deaths and damage. The trucks were not destroyed, but the convoy was forced to pull back west to Al-Da’ein in neighboring East Darfur.
More than 20 relief trucks carrying food and medical supplies had crossed from Adré on the Sudan–Chad border to Al-Fula, bound for Lagawa, which is facing acute shortages. After the strike, only the two lead trucks attempted to continue and were turned back, the official said.
Communities across West Kordofan are grappling with severe food insecurity as fighting spreads through Greater Kordofan, displacing residents and wiping out livelihoods.
