A SAF drone strike hit a school sheltering displaced families in West Kordofan on Thursday, killing eight people, including a 6-year-old child, local officials said.
The state’s emergency committee said the drone hit Abu Zabad Girls’ Secondary School, which has served for months as a refuge for civilians fleeing fighting elsewhere. Nine people were wounded.
Residents said the camp hosts families driven from their homes by the 14-month war between General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The RSF recently seized the nearby town of Al-Khawi and surrounding areas.
There was no immediate comment from the SAF on the strike. Rights groups have accused both warring sides of repeatedly targeting civilians during the conflict, which has uprooted millions across Sudan.
