The Sudanese Congress Party (SCP) accused General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) of carrying out a “criminal” drone attack on civilian sites in the regional capital al-Fashir and its surroundings, saying the strike killed and wounded scores of people.
In a statement from its al-Kuma branch, the opposition party said unmanned aircraft “affiliated with the army” targeted a social gathering at the home of Sheikh Ahmed Rabah Dshish in the town of al-Kuma, North Darfur. The party published an initial list naming 16 people it said were killed, warning the toll could rise amid a lack of medical and ambulance services.
The SCP said women, children and the elderly were among the victims. It called the attack a grave breach of international humanitarian law and “a blow to national and human values,” urging an immediate, independent investigation and international action to halt what it described as an escalating pattern of attacks on civilians.
The party said the incident encapsulated the humanitarian crisis facing al-Kuma and wider North Darfur after nearly two years of conflict and deteriorating security conditions. The SAF did not immediately comment on the allegations.
