Sources linked to Sudan’s Muslim Brotherhood said Wednesday that a senior figure within the group, Arif Ahmed Adil — also known as “Sheikh Abu Tamer” — was killed during ongoing clashes in the city of Dilling, South Kordofan.
According to the sources, Adil was killed while actively participating in fighting in the city, where he held a leadership role within the Al-Bara’ bin Malik Brigade. He was considered a close associate of a field commander known as “Al-Misbah.”
Adil was described as a veteran fighter with extensive combat experience. Sources said he had previously taken part in the conflict in South Sudan and had also fought abroad, including in Afghanistan. He was also reported to have been affiliated at one stage with ISIS.
The sources added that Adil specialized in operating drones and had received advanced training in Iran under the supervision of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Following news of his death, figures associated with the Islamist movement publicly mourned him, describing his killing as a significant loss. Among those reacting was former Brotherhood-linked figure Haj Majed Suwar, who called it “a difficult day.”
