South Darfur’s health authorities reported six new dengue fever cases on Wednesday, detected among ten suspected infections across the state.
Officials said the total number of recorded cases has climbed to 335, with the latest infections identified in southern Nyala’s Skli neighbourhood.
Health authorities reported 235 cases in Nyala North, 98 in Nyala municipality, and single cases in Al-Mum and Ad Al-Fursan localities.
The Department of Health and Epidemic Control said response teams are conducting active surveillance with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Vector control operations, targeting mosquito breeding sites, are being carried out with assistance from the humanitarian organisation Alight, officials added.
Nyala health authorities first confirmed dengue fever cases in late October, identifying the Aedes aegypti mosquito as the source of transmission.
The state ministry has since launched awareness campaigns in heavily affected neighbourhoods, urging residents to take preventive measures against the spreading disease.
