SPLM-N accuses Burhan’s SAF of killing 17 civilians in Nuba Mountains

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al‑Hilu, accused General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) on Sunday of killing at least 17 civilians in artillery shelling in the Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan.

In a statement, the movement said Sudanese military forces shelled areas under its control in the Nuba Mountains, claiming the attack struck the Mandari market in the town of Juld, part of the Dilling district, killing at least 17 civilians, including women and children, and injuring dozens more.

The accusation comes amid rising military tensions around the city of Dilling in South Kordofan, where clashes have intensified in recent weeks.

According to local reports, fighting in the region has escalated as the SAF attacked an alliance of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the SPLM-N.

The bombardment has caused civilian casualties and damage to several public facilities and infrastructure, according to the SPLM-N statement.

The group said the latest strike was part of what it described as a continuing pattern of attacks on civilian areas by SAF. The Sudanese military has not yet issued an immediate response to the accusations.
