A contingent of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) forces loyal to Abdelaziz al-Hilu has returned to Kordofan after months of intense fighting in El Fasher under the Tasis coalition. A fighter, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the group was heading toward El Fula, the capital of West Kordofan, after engaging in prolonged clashes alongside Tasis Alliance forces on El Fasher’s southern front.
Residents in El Daein said they saw three large trucks carrying SPLM-N combatants passing through the town on Monday via Nyala. The forces, estimated in the hundreds, were reportedly dressed in Rapid Support Forces uniforms marked with the SPLM-N insignia.
In August, the SPLM-N had denied earlier claims of involvement in El Fasher, stating that its forces were not present but would join operations following new coordination deals within the Tasis coalition. The latest troop movement signals a possible reshuffling of SPLM-N positions across Kordofan, as alliances within Sudan’s fragmented warfront continue to shift.
Analysts say the SPLM-N’s role within the Tasis coalition may reshape dynamics in western and southern regions, where local loyalties are increasingly fluid amid a deepening national conflict.
