The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al Hilu, announced that its forces, in coordination with the Rapid Support Forces, have taken control of the town of Habila in South Kordofan, media reported.
In a statement, the movement said its forces succeeded in securing Habila and closing the main roads and entry points leading into the town, an area that had effectively been cut off for nearly two years due to the conflict.
The statement added that gaining control of the cities of Dilling and Kadugli is “only a matter of time,” citing what it described as strengthened military deployment and the consolidation of influence across several strategically important locations in the state.
The announcement reflects growing momentum for forces opposed to SAF, as coordinated operations continue to reshape the military balance in South Kordofan. Observers say the developments underscore SAF’s diminishing presence in key areas and highlight the expanding reach of alternative power centres on the ground.
