SPLM-N’s Al-Hilu to hold talks with Taqqadum on ending Sudan War

Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, the leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), has affirmed his readiness to engage in discussions with the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Taqqadum) to seek ways to resolve the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The SPLM-N’s agreement to participate in the meeting comes after Taqqadum extended invitations to various political parties, including the Sudanese Communist Party, the Baath Party, and the Abdel Wahid al-Nur-led SPLM-N, as part of its efforts to broaden political support for a ceasefire.

In a statement released by al-Hilu’s office, the SPLM-N expressed its willingness to collaborate with any party or group that shares its dedication to ending the hardships faced by the Sudanese people.

The statement outlined a comprehensive agenda for the talks, addressing issues such as national identity and voluntary unity, the correlation between religion and state, democratic reforms, governance structure, economic hurdles, historical accountability, and security arrangements.

This development follows the recent announcement by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) regarding their readiness to immediately and unconditionally halt hostilities.

This commitment aligns with the political declaration to end the war signed with Taqqadum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on January 2.
