Sudan aid authority head condemns SAF Kutum wedding strike

The chairman of the National Authority for Humanitarian Access (NAHA) under the Peace Government of Sudan has condemned a deadly drone strike on civilians in Kutum, North Darfur, accusing General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) of carrying out the attack.

Ezzaddean Elsafi said the strike targeted a wedding gathering late at night, killing more than 56 people, including children. He described the incident as part of a broader pattern of attacks on civilians.

“This brutal act adds to hundreds of other attacks on civilians, which have killed more than 700 men, women, and children,” Elsafi said in a statement shared on social media.

Elsafi, who serves as chairman of NAHA — a body affiliated with the Peace Government of Sudan — accused SAF and allied Islamist forces of using tactics such as ethnic cleansing and scorched-earth policies in their campaign, alleging that such methods have long been central to their conduct in the conflict.

He further criticized what he described as global inaction, saying the attacks continue amid “silence, negligence, and impunity.”

Elsafi called on Sudanese citizens to unite against the violence and urged international institutions, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, to take swift and decisive action to protect civilians and hold those responsible accountable.

There was no immediate response from SAF to the allegations.
