The head of the Gold Exporters Division, Abdel Moneim Al-Siddiq, triggered intense controversy by accusing General Abdel Fattah al Burhan controlled junta government of “legalized smuggling.”
Al-Siddiq publicly demanded the state’s immediate withdrawal from gold exportation, arguing the task should belong solely to division members.
He asserted that private export revenues could fully satisfy the nation’s urgent demands for foreign currency reserves.
Official channels could then comfortably fund the essential foreign currency requirements of patients, students, travelers, and commercial importers alike.
