Sudan Red Crescent discusses aid challenges with Danish ambassador

The secretary-general of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, Ahmed El-Tayeb Suleiman, met today in Port Sudan with Denmark’s ambassador to Sudan, Sonny Krøgsstrup. The meeting was attended by the head of the IFRC mission in Sudan, the society’s capacity-development director, the health department director, and the head of the Danish Red Cross mission in Sudan.

The discussions focused on the challenges facing humanitarian operations across the country, along with priority areas for intervention and coordination with UN agencies and international partners.

The secretary-general stressed that the society operates in all Sudanese states, delivering its services in line with the core principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. He noted that ensuring the safety of volunteers and field staff remains a major challenge that requires continued support and stronger coordination.

For his part, the Danish ambassador praised the Sudanese Red Crescent’s efforts and its central role in delivering humanitarian assistance to affected communities amid the current circumstances.
