Sudan SLM chief detains official over missing money

The Sudan Liberation Movement’s military commander, led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nour, in North Darfur ordered the detention of a civilian authority financial officer over missing funds.

A senior source revealed the military accused the officer of misappropriating approximately 65 billion Sudanese pounds intended for the army.

Shadows of corruption deepened as officials repeatedly evaded the commander’s urgent inquiries regarding the vanishing wartime capital.

The commander’s guards detained the financial official for two days before a high-level civilian guarantee secured his temporary release Wednesday.

Ongoing investigations now threaten to engulf other regional officials, including the chamber of commerce chief, in the escalating financial scandal.

This friction follows a previous investigation exposing accusations that the movement seized private agricultural lands for lucrative commercial auctions.

Led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nour, the movement expanded its territorial grip into Tawila to ostensibly protect vulnerable civilians.

While promising sanctuary amid Sudan’s brutal war, the group now faces internal fractures over accountability and millions in missing funds.
