A recent airstrike by General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) has resulted in the deaths of at least six civilians and injured ten others in residential areas of southern Khartoum, according to local emergency services.
The attack targeted the Al-Azhari and Al-Ingaz districts, which have experienced intense fighting between the SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since conflict began in April.
Mohamed Kindasha, spokesperson for the South Belt Emergency Room, reported, “At least six people were killed, and more than ten others were injured, including four children, in an indiscriminate bombing by army aircraft that struck homes.” He noted that residents were in a state of panic, with many contemplating evacuation on Monday.
The South Belt area, encompassing several residential neighborhoods, has been caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict, frequently facing artillery shelling and airstrikes that have resulted in numerous civilian casualties.
This airstrike comes as fighting intensifies in the capital, with the army launching a significant offensive over the past three days against RSF.
