Sudanese military rejects coup allegations, stresses unified front

Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, Lieutenant General Yasir al-Atta, dispelled coup rumors in the Wadi Saydna military region, affirming the armed forces’ unity under leadership.

In a statement on Tuesday, al-Atta dismissed online speculations about the alleged arrest of four officers during a meeting with the army’s Popular Support delegation.

While not directly addressing the coup claims, he highlighted the organized hierarchy and cohesion within the Omdurman and Wadi Saydna regions.

Contrary reports suggested a coup attempt or unauthorized attacks against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Omdurman.

Al-Atta emphasized the armed forces’ steadfast support for Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Sovereign Council and army commander-in-chief.

Sudanese army social media platforms vehemently denied the coup narrative, accusing the RSF of inventing discord within the army.
