Unknown assailants abducted several Sudanese refugees at the Adré camp in eastern Chad and later released them after being beaten, according to the victims.
One survivor said that they work at the Adari market and were approached by a man in a four-wheel-drive vehicle who offered what appeared to be a job opportunity.
The man reportedly drove them to the northeast of Adré, crossed into Sudanese territory, and then asked them to get out of the vehicle, claiming he would return shortly.
Moments later, a group of men on motorcycles emerged from the same direction the driver had gone and assaulted them, the survivor said.
The victims were eventually released after an elderly relative of the attackers intervened.
The incident comes amid worsening security in Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad, particularly around Adré, where tensions are rising and attacks on refugees have increased.
