Last Wednesday, the Bahr al-Arab Humanitarian Emergency Room reopened the communal kitchen in Abu Matariq refugee camp.
The kitchen, serving refugees from South Sudan, had been closed for over four months due to halted donor funding.
Operations will continue for ten days, supported by the Sudanese Humanitarian Support Fund, officials said.
Hundreds of refugees face severe food shortages, causing widespread malnutrition among children, women, and the elderly.
The kitchen’s reopening offers urgent relief, though aid workers stress the need for sustained support to prevent further hardship.
