Sudan’s struggling education sector has taken a measured step forward as universities seek to shield students from the devastation of war.
The University of Medical Sciences and Technology announced on Friday that it will offer 90 free scholarships to Sudanese students.
The scholarships cover bachelor’s and diploma programmes, targeting young people whose studies have been disrupted by conflict and displacement.
University officials said the institution maintained teaching throughout the war, becoming one of the few to avoid complete academic shutdown.
They explained that courses continued through e-learning platforms, while some classes were relocated abroad to preserve academic continuity.
The initiative reflects a quiet resilience, as Sudanese educators attempt to keep learning alive amid violence, uncertainty, and fractured daily life.
