Sudan’s flood, cholera crises worsen as death hits 390

The death toll from floods and rains in Sudan has tragically risen to 205, while the number of fatalities due to a cholera outbreak has reached 185, according to the Health Ministry.

The ministry reported 268 new cholera cases and 6 additional deaths in the states of Kassala, Nile River, and Gedarif.

Since the declaration of a cholera epidemic on August 12, the total number of cases in the seven affected states has climbed to 5,692, with 185 deaths.

In addition to the cholera crisis, the floods and rains have caused widespread damage.

Over 26,000 homes have been completely destroyed, and 33,000 others have suffered partial damage.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has stated that more than 172,000 Sudanese have been displaced by the floods and rains in 15 of the country’s 18 states.
