Sudan’s RSF blasts terror claims, accuses SAF of recruiting jihadists

In a sharp rebuttal on Tuesday, Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) dismissed as baseless and diversionary the allegations leveled by Khalil Pasha Sairin, acting Minister of the Interior under General Burhan, accusing the RSF of colluding with armed terrorist groups.

Sairin’s claims, widely circulated in the media, are seen by the RSF as an attempt to deflect attention from mounting accusations of atrocities committed by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied jihadist battalions, the RSF asserted.

“The intent behind these unfounded accusations is to distract from the increasing evidence of heinous crimes perpetrated by the Sudanese Armed Forces, their jihadist allies associated with the Islamic Movement, and extremist militias against the Sudanese people,” the RSF stated.

Among the documented atrocities, the RSF cited instances of civilian beheadings and mutilations allegedly carried out by SAF forces, with disturbing videos surfacing on social media showing perpetrators chanting during acts of torture.

The RSF also highlighted the close ties between the SAF and elements of the Islamic Movement, asserting that these connections influence SAF decision-making and operations.

“General Burhan and the SAF have faced significant setbacks since the onset of the conflict last April, including an influx of foreign jihadists bolstering their ranks,” the RSF claimed.

According to the RSF, many of these foreign fighters are recruited by affiliates of the Islamic Movement and the Muslim Brotherhood, reflecting a broader strategy to reshape the conflict dynamics in Sudan.

“The undeniable reality is that the SAF maintains close collaboration with jihadist groups, including those affiliated with ISIS, embedded within their ranks, as well as extremist militias with ties to global terrorism,” the RSF statement continued.

Positioning itself as a counterforce against terrorism resurgence in Sudan and the region, the RSF reiterated its commitment to combating extremism and securing the nation’s stability.
