Kamal Bour, a prominent ally of Sudanese general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has reportedly been killed in an air strike in North Kordofan.
Bour supported Burhan but had also criticised his leadership, highlighting tensions within the army’s camp.
Sudanese sources said the strike targeted Islamic Movement sites in Jabra Sheikh, while Al-Saiha attributed the attack to the Rapid Support Forces.
Several fighters were reportedly killed, including members of the Special Operations Forces and Al-Baraa Bin Malik Battalion, where Bour was influential.
Bour had previously been detained by military forces before his release and later returned to activities with army-supporting Islamist battalions.
His reported death highlights the shifting alliances and internal tensions surrounding Islamist networks fighting alongside Burhan’s forces.
The United States has designated the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Baraa Bin Malik Brigade as terrorist entities and sanctioned the brigade over its role in the war.
Bour’s killing further exposes divisions within Burhan’s military camp as Sudan’s conflict continues.
