Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) Forces said on late Friday that they freed hundreds of young people who General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army in North Darfur had forcibly recruited.
The group said in a statement that the youths were intercepted during their transfer convoy from North Darfur towards Sudan’s Northern State.
According to TASIS Forces, the recruits had been taken against their will amid escalating mobilisation linked to the ongoing conflict.
The operation unfolded along desert routes long used for troop movements, where fear and exhaustion marked the faces of those released.
TASIS said the youths were provided with immediate protection and basic assistance following their release.
There was no immediate comment from Burhan’s army regarding the claim or the circumstances of the transfer.
Forced recruitment has been widely reported during Sudan’s war.
