Delegations from Sudan’s “Sumud” Civil Democratic Alliance have begun a European tour aimed at building international support to end the country’s war.
Led by former prime minister Abdalla Hamdok, the coalition is seeking to draw attention to Sudan’s deepening crisis and push for a peaceful political settlement.
Sources within “Sumud” said three delegations have started visits to France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Britain, where they are due to meet government officials to discuss efforts to halt the fighting.
The alliance says the prolonged conflict is fuelling atrocities, mass displacement and the risk of Sudan’s fragmentation. Delegates are also expected to hold talks with international humanitarian organisations.
