The Sumud coalition has announced its participation in international talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, aimed at advancing efforts to end Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
The civilian alliance is taking part in meetings organised by the international five-party mechanism, which is seeking to support a political path toward peace.
Coalition spokesperson Bakri al-Jak said the decision followed extensive consultations on the structure of the proposed political process.
He noted that the coalition had submitted practical proposals outlining how a preparatory committee should be formed to oversee the talks.
According to al-Jak, the coalition’s goal is to help develop serious solutions that can pave the way for a broad national settlement and bring the war to an end.
He stressed that the international political process must serve as a genuine pathway to lasting peace rather than becoming a symbolic exercise that fails to address realities on the ground.
The coalition said its participation in the Addis Ababa meetings reflects its continued commitment to the objectives of Sudan’s revolution and efforts to achieve democratic civilian rule.
Ongoing consultations are focused on establishing an inclusive political framework capable of restoring stability and peace across the country.
As diplomatic activity intensifies in the Ethiopian capital, civilian groups continue to advocate for a comprehensive political solution and a sustainable transition away from armed conflict.
