Taha Othman Ishaq, a prominent “Sumud” alliance leader, has publicly accused Sudanese consular officials in Dubai of deliberate obstruction.
Despite a formal decree lifting bans on several political figures, Ishaq claims the Consulate General continues to block his passport renewal.
Ishaq detailed his ordeal on Facebook, citing a cycle of administrative “procrastination” that began during his initial visit in late 2025.
Passport Director Lieutenant Colonel Atef Khoujali allegedly cited a lack of online appointments, deferring Ishaq’s renewal until late 2026.
Contrastingly, Ishaq observed other citizens completing their passport procedures without any prior appointments, suggesting a targeted policy of exclusion.
Intervention by former community leader Ali Ismail briefly offered hope, leading to a direct summons to the consulate this Monday morning.
However, the progress stalled again as Ishaq reported being left in a bureaucratic limbo while officials avoided his direct inquiries.
Ishaq characterized the coordinated absence of the Consul and the Passport Director as a “conspiracy” designed to circumvent the government’s decision.
He noted that other high-profile figures, including Al-Wathiq Al-Barir and Madani Abbas Madani, successfully renewed documents in Cairo and Juba.
The discrepancy raises sharp questions about whether the national directive is being ignored or if Ishaq is facing a specific, localized vendetta.
“Is the decision worthless, or is this ban specifically targeting me?” Ishaq asked, highlighting the inconsistency across Sudan’s diplomatic missions.
The Sudanese Consulate in Dubai has yet to issue a formal statement regarding these specific allegations of administrative misconduct.
