Suspected Sudanese army drones struck RSF positions in northern Nyala early Tuesday, triggering powerful explosions near the former UNAMID base in South Darfur, according to local Sudanese media.
Three local sources said the strikes hit positions in the Al-Mazlagan area and an airstrip inside the former African Union-United Nations mission compound north of the city.
Residents reported hearing two consecutive explosions at around 1 a.m., with the force of the blasts shaking nearby homes.
There was no immediate information on casualties or the extent of the damage.
The attacking drones were believed to belong to the Sudanese Armed Forces, although responsibility has not been independently confirmed.
The strike comes as drone warfare intensifies across Sudan, with the army increasingly carrying out long-range attacks on areas controlled by the RSF and allied TASIS forces.
Neither the RSF nor TASIS had issued an official statement on the attack at the time of publication.
