TASIS accuses Burhan’s SAF of targeting civilians in Kordofan

The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) has accused General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) of carrying out systematic attacks on civilians in Kordofan, describing the violence as a continuation of “deliberate crimes” targeting unarmed populations.

In a statement issued Monday, TASIS said the attacks reflect a consistent pattern of behavior, alleging that General al-Burhan’s SAF has continued to target civilians and destroy essential infrastructure.

The alliance said recent drone strikes hit Al-Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur as well as areas in El-Obeid and other parts of Kordofan during the early days of Eid al-Fitr, resulting in dozens of casualties, including women and children.

According to TASIS, renewed strikes in eastern and southern Kordofan killed at least 53 civilians and wounded dozens more. The group added that continued attacks on towns including Lagawa and Heglig led to further casualties, with at least 15 civilians killed and more than 25 injured.

The alliance described the attacks as a “serious escalation,” accusing SAF of deliberately targeting hospitals, infrastructure, and basic services, depriving civilians of access to healthcare, education, and livelihoods.

“These acts constitute a clear violation of international humanitarian law,” the statement said, adding that the actions demonstrate that the army “does not represent the Sudanese people but operates as a tool of destruction.”

TASIS also claimed that General al-Burhan’s SAF has lost any connection to protecting the country, accusing it of acting as a force of repression driven by extremist elements.

The alliance said its affiliated structures and local administrations continue efforts to protect civilians and provide services despite what it described as harsh conditions and ongoing conflict.

TASIS called on the international community to take a firm stance, urging accountability for those responsible and immediate action to halt attacks on civilians.

“The continued bloodshed must end,” the statement said, calling for justice for victims and recovery for the wounded.
