TASIS accuses SAF of deadly Eid drone strikes in Darfur

The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) has accused General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) of escalating what it described as systematic war crimes against civilians in Darfur, following a series of drone strikes during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

In a statement issued Saturday, TASIS said drone attacks carried out for a second consecutive day targeted civilian areas, including Souq Al-Borsa market in El Fasher, where at least two people were killed and 11 others injured.

A separate strike in the Manawashi area of South Darfur reportedly killed three civilians and wounded several more, according to the alliance.

TASIS described the attacks as deliberate strikes on populated areas, accusing SAF of pursuing a “calculated strategy of terror” against unarmed civilians. The group said the targeting of markets and residential zones during a religious holiday reflects a broader pattern aimed at spreading fear, disrupting livelihoods, and destabilizing communities across Darfur.

The statement further claimed the escalation comes as SAF faces growing international pressure and battlefield setbacks, alleging that increased attacks on civilians are being used to compensate for military losses.

TASIS called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to investigate the incidents, hold those responsible accountable, and take urgent steps to protect civilians in Darfur.

The alliance also urged Sudanese civilians to rally behind its political and military project, framing the conflict as a struggle against what it described as an Islamist-backed military structure.
