The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) has set up a high-level committee to greet its senior figures arriving in Nyala ahead of the long-trailed announcement of a rival national government, alliance sources told media on Sunday.
The three-man organising team includes TASIS spokesman Alaa Eldin Nugud, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) civil-administration chief Al-Nazir Younis and RSF Advisory Council head Huzaifa Abu Nuba. According to insiders, the proclamation of the “civilian government” is now imminent.
Key posts taking shape
- Prime minister: shortlist of three, with Abu Nuba and former civilian cabinet member Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi among the names in circulation.
- Governor of Darfur: could go to Younis or a figure from the Revolutionary Front Alliance.
Under a draft transitional charter signed by the RSF, SPLM-North, the Sudan Liberation Movement–Transitional Council and allied groups, the alternative administration will feature:
- a 15-member Sovereignty Council (eight regional representatives and seven from political forces),
- a prime minister, and
- an executive cabinet.
TASIS announced its 31-seat leadership council in early July, installing RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo as chairman and rebel leader Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu as vice-chair. The coalition says the move is meant to counter General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s Port Sudan-based military junta and to “restore civilian rule.”
