TASIS condemns attack on Sudanese refugees in Uganda

The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) voiced “deep regret” on Sunday after two Sudanese refugees were killed and dozens injured during clashes at Uganda’s Kiryandongo settlement last week.

In a statement, the alliance said it was confident the Ugandan authorities would give the incident “the attention it deserves,” citing Kampala’s long-standing hospitality toward Sudanese refugees. TASIS leaders added they were in direct contact with Ugandan officials to track the welfare of displaced Sudanese “until the day security conditions allow their safe return home.”

The group blamed Sudan’s current war—“waged by the National Congress, its army and allied militias”—for the mass displacement that has driven thousands into neighbouring states. It thanked Uganda and other African nations for sheltering Sudanese civilians, calling their support “a testament to enduring bonds of brotherhood.”
