The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) condemned a video circulating on social media that appears to show an unarmed civilian being executed by a gunman in a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) uniform, calling it a grave violation and reiterating its commitment to protect civilians and prisoners of war.
“We denounce all abuses against civilians and detainees,” TASIS said, adding it is working with its forces on multiple fronts to enforce prisoner-protection rules in line with international humanitarian law and relevant treaties.
The alliance accused authorities it termed the “Port Sudan gang” of fanning ethnic hatred by targeting civilians and labeling them popular backing for TASIS, and said such tactics aim to inflame divisions between civilians and soldiers.
TASIS “welcomed” the RSF’s public stance on the incident, noting the force’s rejection of conduct that violates military and ethical values and its announcement of immediate verification and investigation procedures, with a promise of strict accountability if the perpetrator is found to be in its ranks.
Arguing that only the Islamic Movement and its allied militias benefit from wartime abuses, TASIS said they try to legitimize crimes under the banner of a so-called “War of Dignity,” which the alliance described as a war for the dignity of the movement—not of Sudan or its people.
TASIS reaffirmed its condemnation of all violations and its commitment to safeguarding civilians and the unity of Sudan’s territory and people.
