TASIS distributes relief and livestock medicines in Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced that the Government of Peace and Unity (TASIS) has launched a humanitarian assistance programme in North Darfur, distributing relief supplies and veterinary medicines to nomadic communities.

According to the administration, the aid is intended to support pastoralist families and protect livestock, a key source of income and food security for herders across the conflict-affected region.

The initiative comes as Sudan’s war between the RSF and General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s army continues to devastate large parts of the country, including Darfur.

Veterinary medicines are being provided to help preserve livestock health as pastoral communities face growing economic hardship and disruptions to traditional migration routes caused by ongoing fighting.

Large areas of the Sahel’s savannah belt have experienced significant displacement and reduced access to basic services since the conflict began.

Human rights groups have also warned of worsening humanitarian conditions in Darfur, where many civilians face acute food shortages and limited access to assistance.

As the conflict enters its third year, fighting has severely damaged agricultural production, livestock management and other livelihoods across the region, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis.
