The TASIS Government, also known as the Government of Peace, has welcomed the visit of Tom Fletcher, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, to Sudan’s Darfur region, including the areas of Tawila, Golo, El Fasher and Nertiti, describing the trip as an important boost for humanitarian efforts in the country.
The government stressed its full commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and humanitarian organisations to meet the urgent needs of communities affected by the war and to ensure aid reaches all those in need without obstruction.
It also reaffirmed its consistent, positive engagement with the Quad initiative and its determination to move forward on a path toward comprehensive peace aimed at halting the fighting and addressing the historical roots of Sudan’s conflicts, thereby strengthening prospects for stability and sustainable development.
According to the statement, the government’s adherence to the peace track reflects its desire to end the war through fundamental solutions, create a safe environment that guarantees citizens’ rights and open the way for long-term development.
