TASIS leaders sworn in at Nyala as civilian government launches

Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo was sworn in as chairman of the Presidential Council in Nyala on Saturday, alongside his deputies and Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan al-Ta’aishi, marking the formal launch of the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) civilian government, according to sources.

Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who heads the 15-member council, attended alongside deputy Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, leader of the SPLM-N, and all council members, the sources said. Al-Ta’aishi took the oath before the council chair and is expected to announce his cabinet next.

Security forces imposed a tight cordon around the delegation’s accommodations and key sites across Nyala amid heightened measures to avert any incidents.

The swearing-in follows the collapse of international and regional efforts to secure a political settlement or permanent cease-fire.

TASIS—comprising the Rapid Support Forces, the SPLM-N led by al-Hilu, the Revolutionary Front, and allied civil and political figures—has designated Nyala as the administrative capital. The council is chaired by Dagalo with al-Hilu as vice president, and al-Ta’aishi as prime minister.
