TASIS picks Nyala as capital, El Geneina as economic hub

A high-level forum in El Geneina has endorsed a plan by the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) to designate Nyala as the alliance’s administrative capital and transform El Geneina into its economic center.

The gathering brought together senior figures from Rapid Support Forces (RSF)-controlled civilian administrations across West Kordofan, East, Central and South Darfur. Dr Huzayfa Mustafa Abu Nuba, head of the Supreme Council of Administrations, and Al-Nazir Younis Mukhair, overall supervisor of the civilian bodies, presided over the meeting.

Addressing delegates, RSF commander and Presidential Council chair Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) praised the performance of these emergent local governments and urged closer coordination to replicate the model in all RSF-held territory. His remarks underscored the RSF’s political and military backing for the fledgling structures.

Dr Huzayfa described the civilian administrations as the “nucleus” of a forthcoming TASIS government. He said West Darfur would serve as the bloc’s economic capital while Nyala in South Darfur would host government ministries. He credited the new bodies with bolstering security and basic services in RSF areas, portraying the force as an actor in civil governance rather than purely a combatant.

Al-Nazir Younis pledged full readiness to receive the TASIS government, calling its formation a “historic step” that aims to redress long-standing marginalization amid Sudan’s power vacuum.
