TASIS prepares Nyala to launch civilian Darfur government

Rapid Support Forces (RSF) officials say preparations are nearly complete for the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) to declare a civilian government from Nyala, with ministries to be split across three Darfur state capitals.

An RSF‑aligned civil‑administration source told Darfur 24 that renovation of key state facilities in Nyala— including the government secretariat, guest house, former army commander’s residence, hospitals, the radio‑television complex and several ministry buildings—has finished. Similar refurbishment is under way in El Daein (East Darfur) and El Geneina (West Darfur), which will share sovereign‑ministry offices, the source added.

TASIS plans to unveil a 15‑member Sovereignty Council—eight regional representatives, seven political appointees—alongside a prime minister and full cabinet. Commander of the RSF Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo will chair TASIS; SPLM‑N leader Abdel Aziz al‑Hilu has been tapped as deputy.

Economic steps are also under way: Nyala’s central market has reopened, new money‑exchange points are operating in RSF‑held areas and neighbouring states, and officials insist the Sudanese pound will remain legal tender. Logistical work to restart Nyala Airport is expected to finish before the government launch.

A high‑level reception committee—led by TASIS spokesperson Alaa Eldin Nugud, RSF civil‑administrations chief Al‑Nazir Younis and RSF Advisory Council head Huthayfa Abu Nuba—has been formed to welcome alliance leaders to Nyala.

TASIS unveiled its 31‑member leadership council earlier this month, positioning the Darfur city as the movement’s political hub even as fighting between the RSF and General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) continues elsewhere in the country.
