Dr. Suleiman Sandal, head of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and prominent in Sudan’s Founding Alliance (TASIS), declared during a forum in Nairobi that the new TASIS government symbolizes “Sudan’s Second Republic”—prepared for both war and peace.
Speaking on July 29 at a Civil Forces Alliance “Qimam” event under the theme “Building the Sudanese State on Federal Foundations and Good Governance,” Sandal said:
“If the Port Sudan government chooses peace, we are with them. If they choose war, we are also ready—until Sudan is completely liberated.”
He emphasized that the TASIS administration will operate directly among the people and participate in efforts to free Sudan.
Sandal criticized Sudan’s political crisis, pointing to the military’s monopoly on arms and power, and accused Islamist factions of exploiting the SAF and hijacking the state from the people.
He recounted how previous Darfur revolts—Abuja with Minnawi, Doha with Tijani Sese, and the Juba deal—failed to bring sustainable reform. He added:
“We proposed a federal system based on autonomous regions, with regional governors serving as vice presidents. Though rejected earlier, that vision is now being realized within TASIS.”
