Sudan’s TASIS Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi backed the Quartet’s call for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire on Saturday, while hailing battlefield gains by the Founding Forces and declaring Darfur “fully under government control.”
In a policy address, Al-Ta’aishi framed the advances around El Fasher and Bara as a “new phase” in state-building. He pledged unity, a secular and decentralized democratic order, and the formation of a professional national army serving citizens, not ideology.
He blamed the conflict on what he called the Islamic Movement’s army for rejecting peace efforts. On alleged abuses in El Fasher, he said incidents were “individual,” not policy, and promised prosecutions consistent with human rights and international humanitarian law.
Al-Ta’aishi urged rapid humanitarian access and impartial investigations into all violations, aligning his government with the Quartet’s roadmap for a swift end to the war.
