Teacher robbed at gunpoint by alleged SAF soldiers in civilian clothes

Armed men alleged to be soldiers in General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) robbed a teacher at gunpoint on Al-Wadi Street in Omdurman, activists and local sources said.

Witnesses said the trio wore civilian clothes and told the victim they belonged to a military body before searching and robbing her. A video widely shared on social media shows three men—one visibly armed—rifling through the woman’s bag while another appears to attempt to search her as she tries to resist. Reuters could not independently verify the footage.

Local networks accuse some SAF personnel of using plain clothes to mask a pattern of street robberies and intimidation, informing targets that they are from “a military entity” before carrying out searches. Residents said similar incidents have continued in recent weeks.

Community groups say abuses by armed actors—whether in uniform or not—have left civilians feeling unsafe and reluctant to move around with personal belongings.
