General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s forces shot down an Ethiopian-operated drone on Sunday near Kurmuk in the Blue Nile region, the Sudanese Armed Forces said.
The aircraft was intercepted southeast of Dandro after crossing from Ethiopian territory, according to a military statement.
Officials described it as a drone deployed in support of a rebel militia fighting Sudanese junta-administration forces.
Sudanese sources said it was the third such drone destroyed, reportedly cutting Ethiopia’s fleet from five to two.
Ethiopia did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the reported losses.
The incident adds to rising cross-border tensions as Sudan’s civil war grinds into its region-straining phase.
