Fresh fighting erupted between the Bani Halba and Salamat tribes in South Darfur, less than two weeks after they signed a new peace agreement.
Witnesses and local sources said the violence began in Al-Hujairat, west of Dambar, after a personal dispute escalated into armed clashes.
A community leader said the confrontation quickly drew armed members of both tribes, leaving two people dead and another injured.
Another local source said tensions flared again while a group searched for lost livestock.
Two men on a motorcycle were reportedly attacked, killing one and seriously injuring the other.
A third person was also killed, while another was injured as the violence spread. Local mediators moved to prevent the clashes from escalating further.
The Bani Halba-Salamat conflict has persisted since major fighting erupted in August 2023.
Although the tribes signed a civil peace agreement in June 2024, violence resumed in May this year, causing dozens of casualties, destroying villages and displacing residents.
A peace conference in Nyala on June 22, led by Rapid Support Forces commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, produced a new agreement pledging to reopen roads and markets, support voluntary returns, restrict weapons and establish an implementation mechanism.
