Trump adviser: US targeting terrorism and Iran in Sudan

Massad Boulos, a senior adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump on Arab and African affairs, said the United States will continue using “all available tools” to combat terrorism and counter what he described as malicious Iranian influence in Sudan.

Boulos made the remarks following Washington’s decision to designate the Sudanese branch of the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity.

Speaking about the ongoing conflict in Sudan, Boulos said the United States remains committed to holding those responsible for crimes against civilians accountable.

“The Sudanese people have suffered tremendously as a result of the ongoing conflict,” he said, citing serious violations and abuses committed by the parties involved in the war.

Boulos stressed that the time had come for all sides to immediately agree to a humanitarian ceasefire that would allow vital aid to reach civilians caught in the fighting.

He added that such a truce could create space for dialogue and help lay the groundwork for ending the conflict and restoring stability in Sudan.
