The United Arab Emirates has expressed deep concern over escalating military clashes across Sudan, including in El-Obeid, amid a rising toll of civilian casualties.
It rejected the targeting of civilians and called for the opening of safe humanitarian corridors to enable evacuations and protect vulnerable populations in conflict areas.
The UAE stressed the urgent need for a humanitarian truce and a permanent ceasefire, saying both are essential to protecting civilians and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid.
It voiced support for international efforts led by the Quad aimed at achieving a sustainable peace, a ceasefire, and a civilian-led political process in Sudan.
The statement welcomed the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, alongside broader regional initiatives calling for an end to the war and a transition to civilian governance.
It also noted progress from Quintet efforts and Addis Ababa consultations held from June 3 to 5, which advanced discussions on forming a preparatory dialogue committee.
Reiterating its position, the UAE said political solutions and an inclusive civilian-led transition remain essential to achieving security, stability, and dignity for the Sudanese people.
