UAE denies Sudan’s accusations at UN Security Council

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dismissed Sudan’s allegations of supplying weapons and ammunition to Sudanese forces, as per statements made at the United Nations Security Council.

Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE’s Deputy Permanent Representative, rebutted Sudan’s claims in a letter to the Council President, emphasizing the UAE’s adherence to sanctions and providing transparency to UN monitors.

Abushahab underscored the longstanding relations between the UAE and Sudan, calling for de-escalation in Sudan and a return to political processes.

Meanwhile, a UN report cited credible evidence of weapons smuggling from Chad to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with cargo planes allegedly transporting arms to Darfur via Chad.

The UAE denied involvement, asserting their flights carried humanitarian aid.
