UN predicts Sudan’s economy could grow by %9 in 2026

The UN predicts Sudan’s economy could grow up to nine percent this year, driven by the services sector.

UN Under-Secretary-General Haoliang Xu said sustained growth depends on achieving lasting peace across the country.

Sudan’s economy has contracted over 40 percent in recent years, but improved security in some areas may support recovery.

Xu’s visit coincides with the reopening of the UN House and UNDP, as agencies resume work.

He stressed the UN’s focus on shifting from humanitarian aid to resilience-building, empowering citizens to take control of their future.

Peacebuilding and cooperation with government and local communities remain central, Xu said, noting that the country’s future ultimately lies in Sudanese hands.
