US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed the urgent need for a humanitarian ceasefire in Sudan during a call with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
The General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and Rapid Support Forces have been locked in brutal conflict since April 2023, sparking the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, the UN says.
Rising violence has displaced some 12.5 million Sudanese.
Rubio emphasized that Washington is warning that the fighting must stop immediately.
