US presses SAF with ‘withdrawal’ in Kabbashi-Boulos meeting

SAF commander Shams al-Din Kabbashi and US Presidential Advisor Massad Boulos held a secret meeting in Cairo to discuss ending Sudan’s war.

The talks focused on a US-drafted roadmap centred on a “withdrawal schedule” for forces in active combat zones.

The proposal links phased withdrawals to a political transition and a broader nationwide peace process.

Both sides agreed to continue technical discussions on the withdrawal schedule in future meetings.

The Cairo talks followed a private meeting in Zurich between Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and UAE official Shakhbout bin Nahyan.

Their discussions covered the war and bilateral relations between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates.
