US removes two Sudanese nationals from sanctions list

The US Treasury Department removes two deceased Sudanese nationals from its global sanctions list as part of an administrative review.

Former Justice and Equality Movement leader Khalil Ibrahim and businessman Adam Yaqoub Sharif are officially delisted after years under US sanctions.

Official records show Ibrahim was killed in a 2011 airstrike in Darfur, while Sharif died in Chad under unclear circumstances.

The Treasury Department says the removals follow a comprehensive review aimed at updating legacy sanctions records and improving administrative accuracy.

US officials say each delisting undergoes a thorough interagency review, adding that Washington retains the authority to reimpose sanctions if future security concerns arise.
